Connect an AM/FM Tuner

After connecting hardware you can tune local AM/FM radio using RedButton.

A separate TV-style interface using Media Center also supports TV/FM tuners for listening.

Connect Windows Media Center TV/FM tuner

Note: This help is for RedButton tuning and recording with Media Center TV/FM hardware.

  1. If you have not done so, download and install RedButton, the RadioTime software for your desktop.
  2. From RedButton Settings→Listening→Local AM/FM radio, confirm RedButton recognizes your hardware.
  3. If so, you’ll see the FM option appear on the tuner and available for use.
  4. Otherwise select TV/FM tuner hardware
  5. You may need to close and re-open RedButton so clicking play and record from the guide will use local stations.

Connect radioSHARK AM/FM tuner

This section helps you set up your hardware for use in recording or listening with local AM or FM tuner hardware on your computer.

You can connect the radioSHARK without adding any new driver software. Once connected AM/FM tuner options should automatically be displayed.

  1. If you have not done so, download and install RedButton, the RadioTime software for your desktop. The software includes drivers for radioSHARK and radioSHARK2
  2. Connect the USB cable to your computer, Windows should automatically install the driver.
  3. Your PC should sense the hardware and add AM and FM tabs to the Tuner.

If you do not see the AM/FM tabs displayed

  1. From the desktop software go to the Settings and AM/FM Hardware
  2. Remove and re-attach the USB connector. RedButton Settings→Listening→Local AM/FM section should now display Connected.
  3. You may need to close and re-open RedButton so clicking play and record from the guide will use local stations.

**If local stations do not work with the hardware or don’t display listen icons, close and reopen RedButton. Also check whether the hardware was recognized by selecting the Settings link in RedButton and the Local AM/FM radio option under Listening.

Most third party AM/FM hardware for tuning and recording AM or FM stations is supported. We recommend you download RedButton and attach your hardware to try it out. It’s free! D-link USBR100
