We’re putting together a troubleshooting guide for you. Here are a few common problems.
Not all radio stations make their streams available over the internet. Try searching for the program on another station. You can also contact the radio station to request they provide their content over the internet so they can reach a wider audience.
Firefox and its default Windows Media Player plug-in have several issues, many of which can cause difficulty or failure to playback on our Web site.
Microsoft released an updated plug-in to resolve the most common problems. You can download it.
Alternatively, you can install and use the IE Tab extension for Firefox, which will also launch Windows Media Player. Beware that adding on extensions in Firefox can lead to other issues – so take this as a friendly suggestion.
We know of two serious audio issues with Safari and certain streams in our guide. The first is a pronounced echo, as if the same broadcast airs twice with a short time delay. The second is a “chipmunk”/”chipmunks” effect on some audio, in which the broadcast plays at twice the normal speed.
Both are Safari compatibility problems with internet media player plugins. We are working on a fix, the best option now is to use Firefox.
Some on-demand topics play at double speed and sound like chipmunks. This is a technical problem on the provider’s side. We’re working on a work-around. In the mean time, you can save the on-demand file and listen to it with another player.
If you see a yellow play button, this means the radio station’s stream is unrealiable. So it won’t work some of the time. Try to find your program on another station or contact the radio station about the issue. If you see a “Not working?” link, click the link for troubleshooting.
For every station and program, we have a “Find a mistake?” link. Click the link to report the problem and we’ll fix it – often within 24 hours.
For radio stations that don’t have their own music player, you should see a “Not working?” link. Click the link for troubleshooting.
